My Top 5 SELF Tanners
Self tanners are life savers, but it's also no secret they can be tiny devils. Picking the best one can be very difficult! Over the years, I have tried numerous self-tanner brands because I am not a fan of tanning beds. I have always been deathly afraid of getting skin cancer, hence why I always voted to go the safer route. Some are too orange, some are too splotchy, etc etc. On this blog post I am going to share my TOP 5 favorite self tanners that I would recommend to anyone! I hope this helps my fellow pale ladies out. They are listed from my FAVORITE down (but they are all great!) and I have included prices! These can all be found at Ulta Beauty. Continue reading after to see how I prep my skin for the tanning, apply + develop, and maintain.
1. Loving Tan
2. Jergens Instant Sun
3. St. Tropez
4. St. Moriz
5. NKD SKN
Steps:
- Shower, shave legs, and exfoliate. In order for the tan to adhere correctly, you need to shower to remove any oils on your body. Shaving will give you a smooth surface to work with, and exfoliating is KEY to removing any dead skin that will make your tan patchy.
- Apply the tan. Now I'll be honest, I am horrible when it comes to this part. I do NOT wear a mit, because I find them more difficult to work with. I apply the tan with my bare hands, and immediately wash them with warm water + soap to quickly remove the stain. I work legs up when applying the product.
- Let tan develop. Self tanners vary on how long they take to develop, but to be on the safe side, I always sleep in mine and shower the next morning.
- Maintain. Try your best not to shave your legs too soon after self-tanning, or else you will remove the skin in which the self tanner has adhered. Moisturize every time you get out of the shower in order to keep your skin hydrated- therefore extending the life of your tan!
I hope this helps anyone who has had difficulty finding the right self tanner! Please DM me on Instagram if you have any questions I wasn't able to answer on here.
